What's happening at Brooklyn?

Rainbow Village is collecting polar fleece for Blanket BINGO on January 26th! Fleece should be blanket-sized (approx. 2 yards). Please bring all fleece donations to the church office.

The Footworks Foot Care Clinic will be returning to Brooklyn UMC on Monday, January 30th from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. This clinic includes: Foot Soak, Toenail Trimming, Corn/Callous Removal, and Foot Massage. This clinic is open to the community and spots are filling up quickly! The cost is $30. Make an appointment by calling the church office at: 763-561-1684.

Come help us celebrate Fat Tuesday, Tuesday, February 21 at 5:30PM. The Pancake Dinner sponsored by BUMY, followed by our traditional All Church Talent Show. After dinner and the show there will be dance music—classic rock by the Erin, Keira and the Corndogs (BUMC Praise Band).

Do you act, juggle, perform magic, sing, play an instrument, or have “stupid human trick?” If so, then you are invited to enter the Brooklyn UMC All Church Talent Show hosted by Joe Tanner. All ages and abilities are invited. If needed, a pianist, CD or cassette tape player and sound system will be provided. Pre-recorded tapes or tracks are welcome as well as bands, ensembles and skits. For a sign-up sheet see Michael Anderson, Kelley Green or pick up one in the church office. The Talent Show will be held at 6:00PM. For details and questions, talk to Michael any time.

There will be an Ash Wednesday Taize Service Wednesday, February 22, 7:00PM. Don’t miss this special beginning to the Lenten season where we contemplate the life and sacrifice of Jesus and how we are impacted by our belief that we are called to carry out Jesus’ teachings of love, mercy and compassion into the world. Music by the Sanctuary Choir and the unique hymns of the Taize Ecumenical Community of France will set the meditative tone. The Plymouth Recorder Ensemble will provide special music.

The Minnesota Teen Challenge choir will be visiting on Sunday, February 19th at both services. Don’t miss this special service of music and testimony as the singers from Teen Challenge share their struggles and triumphs through their music and inspirational stories.

The BUMC choirs will join forces to sing Bradley Ellingboe’s "Requiem" for the Spring Cantata on Good Friday, April 6th at 7:00PM. Interested singers are invited to join us for a limited commitment of Wednesday evening rehearsals and the Good Friday performance. Call or talk to Michael on Sunday mornings for details on how you can be a part of this special day. This is great opportunity to sing with the choir on a limited basis if a season long commitment is impossible. 763-561-1684, ext. 118 or e-mail at music@bumc.org.

Have you ever misplaced your Circuit Rider? Check out the new Circuit Rider feature on the News page! The Feburary  issue is now posted. And while your there, why not tell us that you would rather pick up the Circuit Rider online, rather than having it mailed to your home.

Do you want to learn more about the Brooklyn Big Band? They have a special page dedicated only to them. Check it out and let Dave and Michael know what you think!

Do you have a joy or concern? Prayer is a powerful tool for expressing your joys and concerns. We have Pastors and Lay people who pray daily. Tell us what you would like us to include in our prayers by clicking on the praying hands.
