Marty Jones

After a year of seminary, Marty Jones came to Brooklyn as a Youth Leader in 1983. She held that position for four years. She then made two major decisions . to return to seminary and to get married to Harold Fagley.

Following her ordination, Marty was appointed to Brooklyn UMC as an associate, which she served for three years. After the birth of her son Benjamin in 1991, she took a one year leave of absence.

In 1993 she was appointed to Walker Health Center and has been there for ten years as a part of its Extension Ministry.

Marty has volunteered as a docent at Walker Art Center for ten years, served on the Board of Ordained Ministry six years, and currently serves on the Metro West Committee of Ordained Ministry. She teaches classes and leads worship at Walker Place.

As a youth worker, Marty had a well-rounded youth program of education, fellowship, worship and service. Pre-confirmation classes were held; the students participated in a talent show, assisted in worship, and served with Habitat for Humanity in Minneapolis and Florida. In addition, the youth worked with United Methodist Economic Ministries in New England.

As associate pastor at Brooklyn, Marty established a We Care Group, encouraged art, dance and drama in worship, held pre-marriage seminars, initiated the Shepherding Ministry throughout the congregation, and led Disciple I and Disciple II Bible classes.
