What's happening at Brooklyn?

Join our Parish Nurse, Shira, for a book discussion of Can You Drink the Cup? by Henri Nouwen, on Wednesdays at noon beginning on March 4th (March 4, 11, 18, 25). Come have lunch, hosted by Loaves and Fishes, and bring your copy of the book.

For more than 30 years, Minnesota FoodShare has coordinated the March Campaign, the annual grassroots food and fund drive that provides more than half the food distributed by 300 food shelves throughout the state.  The March Campaign is the only statewide effort where every dollar donated goes directly to food shelves to purchase food for the hungry.

Here is how you can contribute at Brooklyn UMC. Bring your donations to the big FoodShare Box in the front of the sanctuary.  All food needs to be non-perishable.  Our focus foods are as follows, but any food is welcome!

  • Mar 8th, Lunch Sunday
  • Mar 15th, Supper Sunday
  • Mar 22nd, Baby Sunday
  • Mar 29th, Casserole Sunday
Our goal is 2,000 pounds. Help us meet this goal. It’s a worthy cause for our neighbors.

The 3rd Annual Northwest Suburban Jazz Festival will take place on Sunday, March 22nd at 3:00 PM. The Brooklyn Big Band, the Park Center High School Jazz Band, the Hamline University Jazz Ensemble, and the Augsburg College Jazz Ensemble will be playing. A free will offering will be taken ($10-$20 suggested donation).

t is time again for the UMW annual plant sale. This year Lynde nursery will be our vendor for plants. You will be able to order the colors that you want for plants this year. Sale order days are March 29th through April 12th. Delivery will be on May 16th (time to be determined).

We will also be doing Cub coupons again this year. There is a change this year - you can shop at any Cub Foods plant center for the entire month of May and use our Church coupon repeatedly. The coupon is for 10% of your sale to be given back to UMW. More info will be coming in March.

"Requiem" by Gabriel Faure will be presented by the BUMC Choirs and Orchestra on Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 PM. A free will offering will be taken.

Do you have a joy or concern? Prayer is a powerful tool for expressing your joys and concerns. We have Pastors and Lay people who pray daily. Tell us what you would like us to include in our prayers by clicking on the praying hands.
