BUMC - Staff - Music Ministries

Our Director of Music, Michael Anderson, is responsible for all of the worship arts at BUMC. Michael directs the Sanctuary, Contemporary, Youth and Brass Choirs as well as the Praise Band. He has worked in the United Methodist Church for over 18 years and is a past president of the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music, Worship and the Arts.

Michael is a guitarist, vocalist, percussionist, trumpeter, and an instrumental and choral conductor. He is a former member of the Dale Warland Singers and the Minnesota Chorale. He also sings and plays in a local rock band called the Boomers. For more information click here.

Our Organist and principal pianist, Karla Miller, is in her tenth year as full-time Music Instructor/Choral Director at North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park. She has been involved in several professional organizations and is currently serving as president of the State Fine Arts Council for MNSCU Two Year Colleges.

Karla resides in Brooklyn Park with her three sons and has been very active in the Band Boosters at Park Center High School and works extensively with the Park Center Pirates Marching Band.

Our children's choir director, Keira Moore, is in her second year at Brooklyn. Her full-time job is teaching Spanish at Blaine and Champlin Park High Schools. She has been teaching high school for 12 years.

Before coming to Brooklyn, Keira was the music director at Riverview United Methodist Church, for 7 years, where she directed the adult and children's choirs, led the praise team and Vacation Bible School, and did the planning for and participated in musical worship. When the Brooklyn and Riverview congregations merged, she gladly accepted the role as the director of "Joyful Noise". She enjoys singing and playing the piano, and earned a minor in music while she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.

Keira lives in Brooklyn Park with her husband, Nate, and her two sons, Elijah, 4, and Ryelin, 2. She's excited to get the boys involved in choir and music!
